James Farson Civil War narrative and slave bill of sale
James G. Bogle research papers
This collection contains research materials from James G. Bogle's study of George Hewett Daniel (1817-1964), a Confederate soldier. Materials include correspondence from literary agents as well newspaper clippings of Atlanta funerals. Also included is correspondence from Daniel to his daughters and information on his family's genealogy. Of particular note are manuscript drafts of parts II and III of Bogle's book titled George Hewitt Daniel (1817-1864).

The James L. Mitchell collection contains .25 cubic feet of papers in thirteen folders. The greater part of the collection consists of reproductions of articles, memoirs, letters, newsclippings and maps. Some original correspondence of James L. Mitchell is included, but the bulk of the pre-1950 material is photocopied.

James P. Wickersham letter and biographical sketch
This collection contains a letter from James P. Wickersham on July 17, 1881 to his wife Emerine written during a train ride to Atlanta from Pennsylvania. He wrote that the trip took 34 hours, including a 5 or 6 hour delay because of engine failure. He speaks of Atlanta as "beautiful and thrifty" compared to the city as he saw it in 1866 as it lay in ruins.

Jane Louisa Killian papers
This collection consists of Jane Louisa Killian's 1865 diary. Of particular interest are entries that include her thoughts on the death of President Lincoln; the surrender of General Robert E. Lee; the day Confederate money was no longer legal tender; the return of captured Confederate prisoners to Atlanta, Georgia; and her reaction to her husband's murder.

This collection consists of a scrapbook, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and related documents. The scrapbook was kept by Jesse R. Griffin's wife about him and his topics of interest, which included the Civil War, veterans, United Daughters of the Confederacy, President McKinley, religion, and Carrollton, Georgia.

Ephemeral items related to the Sons of Confederate Veterans (of which Jones was the national commander), the New York Life Insurance Company, and Central Presbyterian Church of Atlanta (where he served as a ruling elder). Of special interest are scripts and historical addresses from Atlanta’s Centennial Celebration in 1948 and an inscribed copy of Ivan Allen’s The Spirit of Atlanta (1948).

John Henry Durbin papers
This collection contains copies and transcriptions of newspaper articles about Durbin and his brother-in-law, Benjamin Bainum, as well as a roster of their 83rd Indiana Infantry Regiment. Also included are copies and a transcription of a letter written by Durbin to his father about the Atlanta Campaign, which he wrote on the back of a blank prisoner of war ledger.
John K. Murdoch letter
This collection consists of a letter to John K. Murdoch from his parents and sister in Ithaca, New York. The letter discusses the health and activities of family and friends; civic affairs, including an election in which a candidate purchased votes for two dollars; and the return of the bodies of dead soldiers. Murdoch’s sister, Mary, tells a story about the husband of an acquaintance stealing jewelry from a dead Confederate soldier in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
John Keely Civil War letter and scrapbook
This collection contains a letter from Captain John Keely to John Ryan of Atlanta about the health of Captain Keely and news of friends. The collection also contains a scrapbook of newspaper articles about Keely and a diary he wrote while serving in the Confederate Army during the Civil War.
John Matthew McCrary papers
This collection contains correspondence between John McCrary and his wife, Mary Boyd; his brother, Robert, and mother, Nancy, during John McCrary's service in the Georgia Volunteers during the Civil War. Additional records include a contract between John McCrary and his former slaves; his furlough order; and a list of Mr. McCrary's taxable property.
